LEARN ABOUT THE GM PRO GRADE TRAILERING APP

(AVAILABLE IN 2019 GMC SIERRA MODEL YEAR AND UP, PROPERLY EQUIPPED VEHICLES)

Integrated with, and accessible through the Sierra’s infotainment screen, the Trailering App offers a variety of unique features designed explicitly to improve the customer’s trailering experience; today we will review:

  • Pre-Departure Checklists
  • Trailer Light Test
  • Customizable trailer profiles
  • Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring
  • Available Transparent Trailer View
  • Trailer Theft Alert
  • Mobile App Access
  • Automatic Assistance Features

Pre-Departure Checklist.

The Sierra’s Infotainment screen can provide a step-by-step illustrated guide of the actions required to connect a trailer to the truck.

For those new to trailering, these steps can be expanded to show clear, illustrated examples of what connections need to be made and reviewed

Trailer Light Test

There’s no need to find a willing helper to run through an external light test on your truck and trailer – just press a button on the screen, and the truck and trailer will both run through a repeating lighting sequence (i.e. apply brake lights, turn signals, etc.), making this a quick, one-person job!

Customizable Trailer Profiles

Once a trailer is connected, it can be saved as a stored profile within the app itself.  These profiles can help keep track of trailer mileage, provide reminders of trailer maintenance intervals, recall trailer brake controller gain settings, and can even be shared to the customers next truck using their MyGMC Cloud Profile!

Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring

If the customer chooses to install a set of GM-accessory TPM sensors on the trailer’s wheels, those sensors can then relay real-time trailer tire pressure and temperature information to the vehicle app screen, allowing the driver to easily keep tabs on possible tire issues from the driver’s seat.

Available Transparent Trailer View

This package can add up to 2 rear-facing cameras which can be plugged into the vehicle’s bumper; they are useful for either seeing inside the box of your truck or trailer while moving, or an “invisible” trailer rear camera overlay!  When the trailering app is paired with this available accessory trailer-mounted camera, the system can allow the driver to see images behind the trailer in real time!

Trailer Theft Alert

To discourage tampering, Trailer Theft Alert extends the Sierra’s theft alert capabilities to the trailer.  If a trailer is disconnected while the Sierra is parked and locked, the truck’s horn and lights are triggered to draw attention locally.

Active Trailer Theft Alert Requirements:

  • The trailer’s wiring harness must be connected
  • The vehicle alarm must be armed
  • Trailer Theft Alert must be enabled in the in-vehicle trailering app/profile
  • You need an active OnStar Safety Services Plan (Part of the OnStar One plan)
  • Theft Alarm Notification must be turned on in your GM/OnStar notification settings
  • The alert method depends on your notification preferences, so you can choose email and/or text notifications in your account settings/during online enrollment

TRAILERING INTEGRATION WITH THE MYGMC MOBILE APP

With the MyGMC Mobile app you can Create/Edit/Share/Delete a trailer profile.

Smart Trailer Integration - via the MYGMC Mobile  App

The iN•Command Control System lets you monitor and control select functions of compatibly equipped trailers - such as water tank levels, climate controls and can even activate power slide-outs!

Automatic Assistance Features

If a trailer profile is created and selected at time of towing, the system automatically activates:

  • Trailer length indicator
  • Jackknife alert and trailer angle indicator
  • Trailer side blind zone alert
